September Spending Review

When I nap, I make it count.

When I nap, I make it count.

This was the most expensive month all year in terms of non-mortgage, insurance, and tax expenditures. I guess this is why we keep track, because it definitely didn’t feel that way before I added it all up. A new phone for Mr. Paradise, some furniture, and two tickets to a charity ball added up to almost $1,500. So…there you go.

Total$4,996.98Total without mortgage was $3,277.98.
Mortgage$1719.00Just principal and interest.
Furniture$641.47We finally bought a dining room table and chairs.
Groceries$546.25I'm not sure what made this so high this month. We did buy some fancy steaks for our anniversary dinner. We are also trying to eat a lot more produce, so maybe that's it. Also Mr. Paradise eats a lot of Doritos.
Electronics$439.84We sure have been patronizing Apple a lot recently. Mr. Paradise replaced his iPhone 4S with an SE. We also bought some new cables.
Auto payment$353.60Yes, we have a car loan. But in our defense it is at 0% interest.
Charity$340.00Our local humane society is having a charity gala in a couple of weeks. We bought two tickets.
Utilities$190.43Gas and electric. A few days ago we switched from AC to heat, but we've just been coasting for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully that will be reflected in next month's bill.
Pets$97.38Food and litter and whatnot.
Clothes$88.87We hit up Gap again because of a big sale, I'm thinking Mr. Paradise is set for a good while.
Internet$59.42Our one year promotional price expired...but at least it's still not Comcast.
Garden$59.40Fertilizer and seed to try to make our lawn slightly less embarrassing.
Home$58.79A rake and some other random stuff. Exciting!
Gas53.22This is way over budget for us. We did some driving back and forth from the airport though, that adds up.
Alcohol$45.38What? Again? Ok we have to stop buying stuff because it is on sale.
Gym$39.00Monthly gym fee - still going three times a week!
Security System$35.99We are definitely due for setting it off by accident...
Cell phone$27.00Monthly refill for my phone.
Restaurants$21.99Took my mom out to lunch when she visited.
Personal care$20.98
Sports$5.00Skate sharpening
